John Ervin is an experienced nurse executive that has led surgical services departments in local hospitals, large academic medical institutions, and ambulatory care centers. He is an accomplished leader and former military officer with success in business development, strategic planning, operations and innovation, skilled in performing in complex environments with profit and loss, profitability, growth and revenue responsibilities.
John’s leadership training began while serving in the U.S. Military as a non-commissioned officer and then as an Army Nurse Corps Officer. His success as a healthcare leader has been augmented through many benchmarking experiences, including the airline industry, the Department of Homeland Security, insurance and financial services, and the medical device industries.
John’s experience includes: Surgical and Operating Room Technologist, Walter Reed Army Healthcare System; and, Operating Room leadership positions at Hahnemann University Hospital, Kennedy Health System, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Vanguard Health Systems and the Healthcare Corporation of America’s Ambulatory Surgery Division.
John earned a B.S. in Liberal Arts in Biology from Excelsior University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University, MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Northeastern University, Executive Certificate in Healthcare Operations from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Graduate Certificate in Lean Healthcare Operations from Thomas Jefferson University, Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Policy from George Mason University, Certified Professional Life Coach, Fowler International Academy of Professional Coaching. He is a doctoral candidate at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia; his research focuses on strategic leadership with a focus on systems and design thinking.
