Addressing prolonged hospital length of stay (LOS) is a critical aspect of healthcare improvement, with implications for patient satisfaction, quality of care, and cost reduction. We will examine the multifaceted nature of LOS and identify various strategies to optimize hospital stays while ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key strategies include streamlining admission and discharge processes, implementing clinical pathways, enhancing patient flow management, and ensuring efficient staffing. The potential of technology, artificial intelligence, and telemedicine in reducing LOS should also be explored. The importance of early patient mobilization and the prevention of hospital-acquired infections are both crucial for shortening LOS. The webinar will also explore the need for improved communication among healthcare professionals and patients, expanded utilization of outpatient or day procedures, and the vital role of coordinated post-acute care.

While the goal is to reduce LOS, patient safety and treatment effectiveness must remain at the forefront of all strategies.
